CARING FOR WOOL

WOOL

Icelandic sheep wool is a natural fibre.  It is a renewable and sustainable source. Every year the sheep grows a fleece, which can be removed without harm to the animal.

DRY CLEAN

If your woolen product needs cleaning, dry clean only.

AIRING

To refresh your wool it´s best if you can hang it out in fresh air for few hours. Take care that the blanket doesn´t stretch too much or it will loose its shape. You can also hang it in a steamy bathroom. Moisture from the steam will remove wrinkles.

PILLING

All knitted fabrics are susceptible to pilling which is the formation of small balls of fiber called “pills” on the surface of the wool.  A comb or small battery operated “fabric shaver” can be used to gently remove the pills.

MOTH DAMAGE

All wool fabrics are at risk of damage caused by moths, particularly in the summer months. To protect your wool from the risk of moth damage please bear the following in mind:

  • Air out or dry clean prior to storage, moths are attracted to soil and dirt.
  • Use a moth deterrent, like mothballs, which have a pungent odor to deter moths. There are also mothproofing agents that are odorless and effective.
  • Store your woolen object in a sealed container or bag.
